Despite the Grizzly being a race, it's not just about competing.
From my perch a mile or less from the finish line, I witnessed runners heading for home, collecting their souvenir tee-shirt and then return to cheer home their friends.
This photo shows such a chap. He'd just run 20 miles and then climbed back up one of the steepest hills in Devon to cheer his friends home. Having done that, he now walks back down that hill to the seafront, to meet up again. What a lovely spirit!
