How to celebrate a birthday, any birthday? That's the dilemma.
Last summer a couple of friends suggested renting a house for the weekend and inviting others to join us. That sounded a great idea. I'd thought of something similar, but in a hotel.
The house, they said, would be relaxed and we could all enjoy ourselves.
Back in July that sounded a wonderful idea, but fast-forward to January and the mercury, like the birds, had gone south.
Throughout the weekend friends arrived and left as their own schedule allowed and the weekend was all we hoped for - relaxed. The open fire eventually warmed us and the hills worked our thighs harder than any gym.
But the most important ingredient of that weekend was that I shared it with friends. Sharing time with friends is never wasted.
