A few weeks ago I posted this...
As if being a writer wasn’t hard enough, we also need to be diplomats too.
Yesterday I attended a play at my local arts centre – with a view to reviewing it.
I shan’t reveal the show, or the performers – I’ll wait until it hits the bottom of a budgie cage first.
Now I enjoyed the play, but had a big reservation. I canvassed opinion and some shared mine, some didn’t. So what to do? Well I’m the person writing the review, so I have to be honest.
So I’ve included both - and made it clear which side of the stalls I’m on. I’ll let you know if I get lynched from the circle!
So what happened?
Here's my review as printed:
It's no lie to say I enjoyed the performance - but it was definitely in spite of the actresses reading from their scripts.
