Writers often take their inspiration from personal experience.
Yesterday I caught a classic British film - Very Important Person.
Set during the 2nd World War it told the tale of a scientist, captured in Germany and sent to a POW camp. The cast is full of Great British talent -
Eric Sykes, James Robertson Justice, Leslie Phillips, John Le Mesurier and Stanley Baxter headed the cast. But the other faces were all recognisable from classic TV programmes of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Joining the gang was Jeremy Lloyd - remember him? Perhaps he's better known for his writing credentials - Are You Being Served? and 'Allo 'Allo are just a couple from his repertoire.
I couldn't help wondering if this film, a comedy with a serious message, helped inspire his tale of Resistance that became such a hit.
