A few weeks ago someone mentioned a writing competition to me – a short account of an examination experience, no more than 300 words, free to enter by email and closing date of a few hours!
I had a blast recounting a tale of an accountancy exam a few years ago and emailed it off. My little tale was one of ten chosen for the shortlist. The winner, alas not mine, was drawn from a virtual hat.
That entry, like this blog, serves a purpose – it demanded a few minutes of focus with no time to dither.
My writing is normally structured and definitely non-fiction. But sometimes you need to do something on the spur of the moment, just for fun.
If you're bored and want to lose a few more minutes, check out the ten that made it through by clicking here.
