Often it’s the simple ideas that work best, isn’t it? When a group of aspiring musicians sit around, probably having downed a few beers, it’s the most oddest of names that float to the surface. Before Tom Petty became The Heartbreakers, some of those group members sang, and released records, as Mudcrutch. But choosing that name never did them much harm, talent always floats to the top, even in mud.
Crosby, Stills and Nash thought it was a no-brainer to name their group after themselves. And when Canadian folk singer Neil Young joined them, it wasn’t difficult to guess how the new band would be re-branded.
No, keep it simple – it’s the music that counts.
