Classic TV!

During the heady days of the 1960s when television was still in its infancy one or two programmes set the benchmark for others to follow and to aspire to. Police dramas have always been popular and one of the first was Z Cars. Its stars are remembered fondly and the programme launched many careers. Many think the title came from the phonetic alphabet – Bravo, Indigo, Foxtrot etc. But it doesn’t. Constabularies had call signs and the creators of the programme used Z simply because it wasn’t in use. Strange but true.
