Why use eight words when you can get away with one?

People hate waffle; there are even campaigns and awards for writing Crystal Clear text. But there are occasions when less is definitely not more.

“Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn!” is possibly the most famous putdown of all time. But would Rhett Butler’s words have been quite so memorable if he’d uttered “Strikhedonia!” to poor Scarlett?

The dictionary defines strikhedonia as having the freedom to say “To hell with it!” and then walk away to somewhere new. Those were certainly Rhett‘s intentions towards Scarlett.

But no, cutting back on those words isn’t always a good move. What’s the point of being given the most dramatic line ever if everyone has to run off and Google it?

Stick with what you know – leave strikhedonia in hell!
